The trial lesson is a full-length session (usually 60 minutes) at no charge. It gives your child the chance to meet their tutor in a relaxed, pressure-free environment, and allows us to carry out an informal assessment of their current level and learning needs. There is absolutely no commitment to continue after the trial — it simply helps both sides decide if it's the right fit.
We offer both. Online sessions are delivered via video call (Zoom or Google Meet) using shared screen tools, interactive whiteboards, and digital resources — all you need is a computer or tablet with a stable internet connection. In-person sessions are available within our local area; please contact us to confirm availability for your location.
We work with learners from age 5 right through to 18, covering Key Stages 1–5. This includes early years literacy and numeracy, primary curriculum subjects, GCSE preparation (KS4), and A-Level support (KS5). Each programme is tailored to the individual child's age, level, and goals.
Not at all. As a home-educating family, you have complete freedom in how you educate your child. We work alongside whatever approach you've chosen — whether that's a structured curriculum, an eclectic or child-led method, or something in between. Our role is to complement your approach, not replace it.
Yes. All our tutors hold an enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check, which is the highest level of background check available for those working with children. We also hold up-to-date safeguarding training. The safety and wellbeing of the children we work with is our highest priority.
This is entirely up to you. Most families opt for one or two sessions per week, but we can accommodate more frequent sessions during intensive exam preparation periods or fewer if you prefer a lighter touch. We'll agree a schedule that works for your family's routine and your child's needs.
Standard sessions are 60 minutes. For younger children (ages 5–8), we often recommend 45-minute sessions to maintain concentration and engagement. For intensive GCSE or A-Level revision, 90-minute sessions can be arranged. Session length is agreed at the outset and can be adjusted as your child grows.
Yes — always. After each session your tutor will provide a brief written summary covering what was worked on, what progress was made, any areas that need further attention, and suggested activities or exercises for your child to do before the next session. We believe open communication with parents is essential to a successful tutoring relationship.
Our tutors have awareness training in supporting learners with a range of needs including dyslexia, ADHD, autism spectrum conditions, and anxiety. If your child has specific needs, please mention this when you get in touch so we can ensure we're well-placed to support them. We will always be honest with you about what we can and cannot offer.
Simply send us a message using the form on this page, or email enrol@homeeducatorstutoring.com. Tell us your child's age, the subjects you need support with, and a brief note about your goals. We'll be back in touch within one working day to arrange your free trial session.
